I was able to go on Dallin's first field trip. He was so excited to ride a bus. We headed down to Tanaka Farms in Irvine where they went for a wagon ride, went in the petting zoo, picked vegetables, and got to pick their own pumpkin (the only rule for the size of pumpkin was that the kids had to carry it by themselves). Dallin was the first kid to pick his large pumpkin and I kept reminding him that he had to be able to carry it all the way to the bus. He insisted that he was fine. After about 10 minutes of waiting it was time to head to the bus. He picked up his pumpkin and panicked "Mom, my pumpkin is too heavy and now it's too late to get a smaller one." We had to take breaks for him to rest (along with about 4 other super strong boys). All the moms got a kick out of that. I loved being able to go on this trip and spend time with Dallin. He's such a great kid and is incredibly entertaining.
I was also privileged to be able to attend Dallin's Thanksgiving program and feast yesterday. It was super cute. Dallin is the kid that is constantly waving to his parents and yelling "Hi Mom, Hi Dad!" When we drop him off at school he has to say bye and give hugs about 6 times before I can leave. Back to the performance... at the end they gave all the kids a chance to say what they are thankful for. Dallin said "I am thankful for animals." That cracked us up because Glenn & I don't really like animals. I mean, we like animals at the zoo, but not animals we have to come in direct contact with. We are loving this whole kindergarten thing. And love how involved we have to be in his education and experiences.
